London based newspaper The Evening Standard included Swedish fashion in their list of predicted trends for 2012.
"There will be no escaping the Swedish invasion set to take place on our high streets next year.
Leading the charge is Stockholm-based budget brand Monki. A favourite with Swedish teenagers and fashion-forward Brits who make pilgrimages to Stockholm to get their fast fashion fix, Monki opens its first UK store on Carnaby Street in February. A spin-off company of Hennes, the chain responsible for other British high-street success stories H&M and COS, Monki will be accompanied by cult Swedish denim brand Cheap Monday which also plans to open its first stand-alone British store at the start of next year.
Customers seeking the “Scandi look” can expect slim-fitting denim, edgy basics and a host of affordable leather jackets which bare a striking resemblance to those associated with high-end Swedish brand Acne.” Karen Dacre
